What is an analytics database?

An analytics database is a data management platform, optimized to store and organize data for the purpose of business intelligence and analytics. Analytics databases return complex queries at scale, and therefore a good foundational layer for an embedded analytics setup. Examples of analytics databases are Google Bigquery, Redshift, Snowflake, ClickHouse, SAP HANA and MongoDB.
